Elected Officials Parade Participation Eligibility

The Connecticut Veterans Day Parade is an apolitical and respectful salute to Connecticut veterans. Politicians who wish to march in the Parade must be elected/appointed State and municipal legislators who currently represent/serve Connecticut residents. This includes US and State Senators and Representatives, mayors and members of Town/City Council and Boards of Selectmen.

Politicians who plan to march should provide advance written notice, either by completing a Participant Application, emailing rz.pme-events@snet.net or faxing a letter to 203-286-1675.

Political candidates who have not been elected or appointed to office at the time of the Parade are ineligible to march in their capacity as a candidate for office. However, if they are a veteran they are encouraged to march with their affiliated group (VFW, Korean War Vets, etc.).

No candidate for office, including incumbent candidates, may distribute campaign flyers or paraphernalia or display campaign signage while participating in the Parade.

For safety reasons, distribution of handbills, candy etc. by any Parade participant is strictly forbidden by the City of Hartford.

All Parade participants are required to read and abide by the Parade Guidelines.
